Manuscript & Music Submission

Abingdon Press, the main publishing imprint of The United Methodist Publishing House, provides resources to meet the needs of all those who seek God. Publishing areas include non-fiction books for individuals, groups, church leaders, seminary and college classrooms, curriculum for teaching at all age levels, and music.

If you are interested in publishing with Abingdon Press, first submit a proposal that tells us about your work. A proposal includes a short summary of your content and a chapter outline as well as a description of the audience for your work and the purpose of the writing, your own bio and your personal platform (how you would reach your audience). You may also send 1-2 sample chapters but we suggest that, for a quicker response, you wait to send the full manuscript until you receive a response to your proposal. Submit your proposal online at

We are not able to consider or return print copies of proposals or manuscripts. All submissions must be made online at

Manuscript Submissions

Among these products are books in the areas of Christian Living, Leadership, Academic, and more. Browse the catalog section of the site for an overview. In your bio, highlight your credentials for addressing the topic and how your interact with this topic and audience in your personal or professional life.

Curriculum Submissions

All curriculum writing for children and youth as well as for adult Sunday school quarterly resources is done by assignment. Curriculum writers are active members of The United Methodist Church and are often involved in ministry with the age level for which they write.

Music Submissions

The Abingdon Press music program is the home of sacred choral and instrumental music as well as books and supplies. We are the publishers of the official United Methodist Hymnal, The Faith We Sing, Zion Still Songs, and Worship & Song. At the moment, Abingdon Press is not accepting music submissions for publication. Please check back for updates about the status of music submissions.

We do not accept submissions of poetry, memoir, fiction, biography, autobiography, occult, or children's books.
