Reverend Randolph (Randy) Cross, long-time writer for Adult Bible Studies and Daily Bible Study, died March 10, 2022 following a brief illness. Randy quickly endeared himself to readers with his relatable stories of home and family life growing up in a large Air Force family and later with his wife Cheri and their sons, Aaron and Adam. He brought the truths of Scripture to life for countless readers and helped them see themselves in God’s unfolding plan.
Randy was born in Omaha, Nebraska and lived in many places, including South Carolina, Australia, and North Dakota. He was a proud graduate of the University of North Dakota and attended seminary at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.
During his career in the United Methodist Church, he served parishes in West Fargo, Fairmount, Grand Forks, Fargo, and Rapid City. He then moved on to leadership positions in Mitchell, Nashville, Rapid City, and Fargo before his retirement in 2020. Randy adored words and definitions, music, trivia, antiques, crockery, his in-laws’ farm in Grafton, his family and their cats, serving the church, and living life in the Dakotas.
Randy’s final work for Cokesbury appears in the Fall 2022 issue of Daily Bible Study.
