UMPH, GCORR, GCFA Collaborate to Support Korean and Spanish Translations of The Book of Discipline

Nashville, TN – Working to answer a denomination-wide appeal by The United Methodist Publishing House (UMPH), and in conjunction with the General Commission on Religion and Race (GCORR), the Board of Directors of the General Council on Finance and Administration (GCFA) authorized the approval of a one-time $125,000 grant to facilitate the publication of the 2020/2024 Book of Discipline and Guidelines for Leading Your Congregation in Korean and Spanish. This grant supplements additional resources dedicated to this project by The United Methodist Publishing House.

NEW EMPHASIS ON WORSHIP WITH ALL GOD’S CHILDREN!

Nashville, TN – The United Methodist Publishing House (UMPH) has received a $1.250M grant from Lilly Endowment Inc. to help establish a new emphasis on Worship with All God’s Children. The project is funded through Lilly Endowment’s Nurturing Children Through Worship and Prayer Initiative, a national effort designed to help Christian congregations more fully and intentionally engage children in intergenerational corporate worship and prayer practices.

MARIA MAYO NAMED SENIOR EDITOR

Nashville, TN – Maria Mayo, a nine-year veteran editor with UMPH who has shepherded scores of projects and cultivated popular authors including A J Levine, Tom Berlin, and others has been named Senior Editor and will lead our general adult studies publishing program starting August 1. In addition to the record of achievements in acquisitions, content development, and coordination of publishing activities, Maria brings a strong academic background having completed both her MDiv and PhD at Vanderbilt University under the mentorship of Dr. AJ Levine.

An African bishop shares his story and ministry.

March 2024 - Born in the small Zimbabwean village of Gandanzara, Bishop Eben Kanukayi Nhiwatiwa became an inspired and accomplished leader in the church and larger society. Elected as a bishop in The United Methodist Church in 2004, he has guided ministries in Zimbabwe and across Africa and beyond through periods of immense and rapid change.
