Cokesbury, the retail arm of The United Methodist Publishing House (UMPH), has seen a marked increase in sales of resources used for local church ministries. Each month since February 2021, the number of orders and array of products purchased by churches, small group leaders, pastors, and others have increased compared to the same months in 2020.

Publishing House Reduces Spending to Address Ongoing Pandemic

The continuing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has required The United Methodist Publishing House (UMPH) to take additional steps to reduce spending due to weekly sales shortfalls that average 57% of pre-pandemic levels. Thousands of products UMPH provides to congregations are used for in-person gatherings for worship, Sunday school, and small group studies. Many of these congregational activities have been curtailed because of the coronavirus.

UMPH Extending Permission to Use Resources for Online Worship through December 31, 2021

Nashville, November 2020 – The United Methodist Publishing House (UMPH) is extending full permission to all churches for use of UMPH copyrighted worship materials through December 31, 2021.  Due to the extraordinary challenges faced by churches and others, UMPH (Cokesbury and Abingdon Press) is assuring easy access to essential worship aids and use of the Common English Bible for online worship and studies.

UMPH Board Meeting-October 27, 2020

Nashville, October 2020 – The Board of Directors of The United Methodist Publishing House (UMPH) held its annual meeting with members gathering virtually by videoconference, October 27, 2020. They voted unanimously to extend the expiring terms of members and the board’s officers until jurisdictions and the General Conference are able to complete elections that were delayed in 2020. Two additional members were elected, a working budget for the current fiscal year was approved, the board reviewed the status of the Amplify Media initiative, and they learned of the planned retirement of Tammy Gaines, the Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer.
