UMPH Announces Partnership between Love in a Big World and Project Transformation


Nashville, Tenn.—Love in a Big World, UMPH’s research-based, social-emotional curriculum and character education movement has partnered with Project Transformation (PT), a program founded in 1998 by leaders in the North Texas Conference of The United Methodist Church that provides leadership development and ministry exploration to college-aged young adults who sign on to lead community-oriented after-school and summer day camp opportunities for children and youth from low-income neighborhoods.

Former UMPH Board Chair Mike Kelley Dies at 84

We are sad to have learned that Edward "Mike" Kelley, Jr died Sunday after a major stroke he suffered days earlier. Mike, past chair of the UMPH Board (2008 - 2012), had not been obviously ill and had been joyfully busy with his usual life of service and learning until the stroke. The funeral service will take place Friday, December 16 at Metropolitan Memorial UMC in Washington, DC.

NASHVILLE, TN – The Board of Directors of The United Methodist Publishing House (UMPH) has announced a partnership with LSC Communications (NYSE: LKSD) for print and digital product distribution. As part of this transition, UMPH will be closing their distribution center at Great Circle Road in Nashville, TN. LSC recently debuted as a standalone public company following the spin-off from R.R. Donnelley & Sons Co.

THE UNITED METHODIST PUBLISHING HOUSE BOARD MEETS IN NASHVILLE


NASHVILLE, TN – The Board of The United Methodist Publishing House (Cokesbury and Abingdon Press) met at its new Nashville headquarters building October 10-12 to organize for the 2017-2020 quadrennium. The Reverend Brian K. Milford was elected as the President & Publisher (CEO) and the new board began its work by selecting Justice Cornelia Clark as Chair, Reverend Thomas Salsgiver as Vice Chair, Reverend Sunyoung Lee as Secretary and Tammy Gaines as Treasurer. The board heard reports including learning about a successful year with sales of $61.828 million, and with a favorable net revenue to invest in infrastructure, pension funding and to meet other ministry needs. The gathering also marked the retirement of Neil Alexander who has served as President and Publisher since 1996.
